Child molesters are the sweetest people | Columnists

A few weeks back, we reported on a story in which an accused child molester had two pretty prominent people testify on his behalf as character witnesses. Now, I have no idea if the guy molested a child or not, but I do know, even if it was my best friend in the entire world who asked me, I would never, ever agree to be a character witness for an accused child molester. The reason being is that child molesters are quite often some of the nicest people you’ll ever want to meet — at least that is the appearance they give off to everyone but the children they molest.

As a child, I had the misfortune of coming into contact with two very prolific child molesters. The horrific acts of my fifth-grade teacher Gary Lundquist are chronicled in the book “Scared Selfess” by Lundquist’s stepdaughter Dr. Michelle Stevens. Dr. Stevens laid out the blueprint that Lundquist used in order to obtain his many victims, and I fit into every single category she laid out — right down to being hired by him and traveling with him solo at the age of 10 to help him with his side business selling political memorabilia.
