Jessica Simpson has joined the recent trend among celebrities (like Salma Hayek’s filter-free selfie) to show off her beauty in a natural selfie. The actress, 43, shared a selfie without makeup on with her hair put in a bun and hoopla earrings.

Well, her selfie is almost makeup-free, the singer revealed herself in the social media post, because she curled her eyelashes before the Instagram snap and it looks like she has lip gloss too.

“43 makeup free (kinda. Ha. I did curl my lashes),” she captioned the post to her 6.3 million Instagram followers.

Fans react to Jessica’s makeup-free selfie

While Jessica’s natural and glamorous look attracted a lot of compliments, some netizens weren’t convinced that the Take My Breath Away musician was without any makeup on.

“Must be the ‘celebrity‘ version of makeup free,” one person commented. “I see lipgloss and mascara,” another one added.

“Beautiful as always but not makeup-free in this photo,” a third fan wrote. “Choosing makeup or no makeup is fine…just be honest about it, especially for the young, impressionable fans.”

Someone else defended the star from the backlash and said: “Why is everyone feeling the need to put this woman down? She’s beautiful, she’s a mother, a wife, a daughter, and has a billion-dollar empire! Let’s celebrate her for all things amazing, including her sobriety!”

Another added: “She is beautiful period. With or without makeup.”

Jessica’s recent natural selfie isn’t the only topic that sparked a debate on social media. She faced Ozempic rumors when her Pottery Barn advert went viral for her “changing” look but the actress set the record straight on how she managed to lose weight.

For a long time, a number of Hollywood stars have faced speculations about the diabetes medication Ozempic, which is prescribed to adults who have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes to regulate their blood sugar levels.

In an interview with Bustle, Jessica slammed the rumors that she had used the drug to shed pounds and explained: “Oh Lord. I mean, it is not [Ozempic] – it’s willpower. I’m like, do people want me to be drinking again? Because that’s when I was heavier. Or [do] they want me to be having another baby? My body can’t do it.”
