Mick Jagger's plans for his $500m fortune after hinting his kids 'don't need it'
Sir Mick Jagger has teased he will give away all of his $500 million fortune when he dies, and his children won’t get a cent.
The rock star has hinted his take from the Rolling Stones’ hits will go to a better cause, and his children won’t get a share. Mick Jagger has eight children, but believes they don’t need “millions to live on”. The music legend appears to have decided to leave inheritance to something else.
Mick Jagger’s fortune

Mick Jagger’s fortune is head-to-head with Keith Richards – they are both said to be worth $500 million. Jagger’s movie roles help elevate his bank balance, after starring in Performance and Ned Kelly five decades ago.
He also owns $250m in real estate across the globe. These span across New York, London, France and even a private island in the Caribbean. Similar to other Hollywood stars, like Johnny Depp who has a private island. Jagger owns mansions and a huge castle based in the south of France.
Nearly all the Rolling Stones back catalog is co-credited to Jagger and Richards, which is why their fortune is bigger than their bandmates.
Keith Richards has also dabbled in acting, playing Johnny Depp’s dad, Captain Edward Teague in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. His memoir, Life, solder more than one million copies in the first year. It quickly became one of the bestselling rock autobiographies to date, even being published back in 2010.
Other Rolling Stones member’s net worth include Charlie Watts at $250m and Ronnie Wood with $200m. Bill Wyman is said to be worth $80m, Brian Jones $10m, and Mick Taylor $300,000.
It might ‘do some good’
Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, Mick Jagger said not leaving his fortune to his children might ‘do some good’.
“The children don’t need $500 million to live well. Come on,” he joked.
He added: “You maybe do some good in the world.”
This would include the money from the band’s post-1971 music inventory. The group down own the rights to their music before this date, which includes some of their biggest hits, like Satisfaction.
Not to make the conversation morbid, but Jagger hopes their legacy will live on even after death. Taking inspiration from ABBA reuniting after 40 years apart and embarking on a virtual tour.
He said: “You can have a posthumous business now, can’t you? You can have a posthumous tour.
“The technology has really moved on since the ABBA thing [the “Voyage” virtual show]”.
But that won’t be for a while yet, as they announced their first album with original music since 2005. The record was called Hackney Diamonds, and is set to release next month.
